wayfaringwordhack: (sail away)

Up the mountain, down to the sea

Yesterday, [profile] mana_trini  and I hiked Mount Benara with nine friends, 9.3 miles in all, 6 hours of walking. I'd say that was a good way to train for our world trip. Today, we are going out with pretty much the same friends (minus 2) on the catamaran. The lagoon isn't lovely and mirror-flat like I like, but the wind is up. Perfect for sailing and resting aching leg muscles.

This flurry of sudden activity feels like the end. One never seems to take advantage of one's surrounding until it is time to move on. Er, if you want, you can remove "one" and insert "Miquela." :P

That will explain the online silence. :p

PS. How do you manage walking with those injured feet of yours?

I wore on thick socks and put band-aids on my tendons. The blisters have pretty much healed.

No, I think you're exactly right - I've had the same experience myself, where I either try to cram all the sightseeing and experiences into the last month or so of my residency somewhere, or I get someplace new and wish I'd taken the time to do so.

There are things here in Richmond I'd never have done if I hadn't had friends come into town for the weekend last autumn. With them, I could play tourist. *g*

Yes, it's great to play tourist with others. Good excuse for getting out and doing things. *g*

It's a shame that the end is coming, but I can completely relate to how you feel.

*nods* I'm ready for it, yet I'm not. I think it's good to be torn, though. Not utterly sick of it to the point that I don't take advantage of anything; not so in love with it that it hurts me to go.
