A little something volcanic

January is Volcano Awareness Month in Hawai'i. Did you know?

Since I'm writing a book featuring a volcanic island and--*waves at [livejournal.com profile] asakiyume*--I know one other person on my flist who also has a story in which a volcano plays a part, I'm going to share some related photos from our world trip.

Whether you need volcano inspiration or not, I hope you enjoy a glimpse of the trip that brought the Sprout into our lives. :P

No lava flow here, just lots of hydrothermal activity and beautiful colors on extinct volcanoes:

I spend hours on the Internet, looking for inspiration for the Witherwilds, forgetting that I already have a ton of it on my external hard drive.

You are welcome and you're welcome. :P

I do like sharing, just as much as I like finding out that people like what I share.

There will be an email coming to an inbox near you later, by the way.

I didknow that. My daughter was once an earth science major.

I love volcanoes. Cool that you have one in your novel.

It is strange, but I"ve always been fascinated with volcanoes and thought I must be weird, ie not many other people would be interested in them. What a silly, narrow-minded way to think. I'm happy to say that as I got older and met more people, I have met many, many people who share my fascination.

Great photos! I especially like that one of the White Dome geyser. Very the drama!

I love that geyser, too. It was so nice of the sky to play along that day. :D

I remember Hawaii being big on Madame Pele! Some wonderful, alien-seeming landscape in your collection. The last reminds me of a painting I did of a dreamscape many years ago

I would love to visit the Hawaiian islands some day! And yes, the Uyuni salt flats and the surrounding deserts and volcanoes had a very surreal, dreamlike quality to them, so I can picture them resembling someone's dreamscape. :D
