Just a few...

These were taken with an underwater camera that we rented during one of our dives (on my b-day to be exact), so the photos aren't the best--don't know the camera and all and didn't have enough time/practice to master the controls.  Not to mention the current was so strong that it was like being on an underwater conveyor belt.  But [profile] mana_trini did a fine job all same.mco  He will soon have his camcorder and water-tight case, so videos will be in order.

This is a trunk/box fish:

I think this is a cleaner shrimp, the kind that has a "service station" for eels and the like:

An Emperor Angel Fish:

a map pufferfish

a Zig-zag (gee, I wondered why they named it that?) or cock's-comb clam

and a last crab pic, taken the same day.  I think it is a ghost crab:

The shrimp is a coral banded shrimp. Some of them do cleaning duties. Ours was murderous. A cleaner shrimp is red with a white line down its back; also called a skunkback shrimp. But you're totally right how they have stations and stuff. Jeff stuck his hand near ours once while he was moving some rocks, and the shrimp came over to clean him. :D

The box fish is cool. How big was it?

Thanks for the id. I have a good field (er, water?) guide for fish but it doesn't include much else, and the names are all in French. It is sometimes a hassle to try to find the equivalent in English.

As for the box fish, it is one of the smaller ones we've seen--about three inches long. I can't wait to take a pic of some of the others we've seen, like the roughskin box fish.

There is so much to photograph that I'll probably be posting stuff off and on for quite a while to come. :)

I continue to heart your pics. The very fcat that you can see through teh ocean water is something that inspires jealousy.

lol...It is true that I complained a bit about the visibility upon arrival, but considering what you can find in other places, I'd say we've got it pretty good.

This is terribly cool. :)
