Happy New Year 2023
I wish you a Happy New Year on this 17th (!) anniversary of the day I started my blog. I cannot believe that much time has passed since I started this thing. It really blows my mind when I think back on sitting in our guestroom/computer room in Sancerre making my first post ever at the bequest of online friends.
That was way before we started our little family and the subsequent tradition of a photo in bed on New Year's morning.
Because the light has blown out the background window, you might have a hard time seeing that those are clementines, growing within reach of our hands. Breakfast in bed!
I think I am going to like this place. ;)
This move was pretty exhausting. We were unloading our last things from the old flat at 11:50p.m. We then piled into the car and drove up the hill to a bonfire celebration put on by our friends to bring in the New Year. We pulled up at exactly midnight. After a brief chat, we came back to our new home and fell into bed. The alarm woke Julien and me so we could go back and clean the old flat before turning over this keys.
That is done, and we are ready for a new chapter. May 2023 be a more settled year.

Isn't it so great to have them!? There are 3 trees. What I am loving so far is getting to share them. Need to show appreciation to the guys who came to clean up the trash in the garden? Give them a bag of clementines! Need something to take to the potluck but just moved house and don't have ingredients/time/energy to cook? Take a bag of clementines!

I know.:P. I DO love looking back at the repository of memories; I just wish I had done a better job over the past 17 years of sticking with it, especially when the kids were smaller. But we only have so many spoons. Better to choose living the moments than living to record moments.

Nalini Singh uses a similar word between Elena and Rafael in her Archangel books. I think theirs is spelled differently- hbeebti? Not to mention their relationship being a lot more intimate (and, frankly, more stressful) than ours! ;)

Confessions of attachment?
Though it is rather one-sided, as I never thought to share my fave foot view, which would likely have involved footie socks or picking something up with my toes. Sorry?
Excuse my humor. The hinge of the year has swung and I find myself oddly cheerful about it.

I wasn't referring to me using it with you but with Lebanese people addressing others/strangers--me included--that way. :P
Everyone should share bare-feet photos! Make the world a less totally stranger, total-stranger place! :D
