Here by Glimpses Known

The daily market in Mamoudzou, capital of Mayotte:

What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps me in a continual state of inelegance. ~Jane Austen

The plastic bottles are filled with "poutou," a chile sauce made from Jamaican peppers, salt, and lemon or lime juice, which the Mahorais use in most of their dishes as well as a condiment in which to dip manioc, fried bananas, grilled chicken wings, and beef brochettes. The plastic-wrapped packages in the basin in the foreground are tamarind, grown on the island. And last of all, sorry about the quality of the image, but the majority of the Mahorais are a bit photo-shy. I don't just want to post landscape here, so I beg indulgence in advance for all the people shots.

The pictures are awesome... whether they have people or not. It's like a semi-personal travel guide.

Thanks, Kev. And yes to the semi-personal travel guide. I'm putting these pictures, etc. here for me just as much for anyone else for when the memories start to grow dim.
