ETA: LJ, we have a cut!

One more Mada photo entry (after this one), and I'll be ready to share La Réunion with you all. These are photos of our boat ride from Ambariomena to Kalakajoro (joro means "wish") and Berafia (which means "store"), two of the Radama Islands. Days four and five of our Alefa adventure:


Guillaume mans the bar On our way to the Iles Radames, at last!	Carri de poisson Using a grouper Julien speared, Flavio prepared a fusion dish, fish carri...with pasta. Delicious as usual.	Going places We weren't the only ones taking advantage of the fortuitous wind.	Nosy Kalakajoro First of the Radama Islands. The second, where we'll go the following day before heading back to La Grande Terre, is just across the way.

Stowaways stink...literally. Two ducks and a chicken, the three remaining stowaways. Chicken in coconut sauce is on the menu that night.	Heading out Nosy Kalakajoro was occupied by a group of itinerant fishermen, and at dawn, they take to the sea in hopes of a good day's catch.	Beautiful day	Fishermen's wives A few moments rest after the men leave to fish.

Fishers' shanties Homes of the nomadic fishers. They are simple constructions of banana leaves lashed to sapling frames.	Jo plays doctor There is no doctor on the island, so whenever the Alefa crews pass, they treat any minor wounds and dispense OTC meds.	Next stop Berafia ("store"), where we'll spend our next to last night on the Alefa trip.	Mena in Metallica

Schoolhouse The one-room village school with the list of necessary supplies written on the chalkboards.	Mating ritual Not sure what these bugs are, but I'm the one who spied them, even though I wasn't wearing my glasses. :P	Egret	A hemiptere of some sort They are pretty, whatever they are...

At the old plantation house Notice the nifty cars!	Future Top Model	Portrait Everyone wants their picture taken	Florine's Look-alike No, this is not our little neighbor, just a Malagasy girl who looks uncannily like her.

Green peppercorns The peppercorns are hauled to this small plaza in front of the plantation house. The pepper is then spread out in a thin layer so it can dry without molding.	Malagasy family	Malagasy Man Just enjoying an afternoon on his doorstep. He has a lovely view of the ocean from there.

Wazala at sunset	Cabosse man Concert around the campfire. This gentleman was willing to part with his cabosse for the reasonable sum of €4, so Julien came away with a very nice souvenir that is extremely difficult to tune. :P	Flavio plays the tea pitcher In need of a drum? Dishes will do in a pinch.
