We have been listening to blaring music for four hours straight now, and there is no sign of it letting up. The even worse news? It's coming from our landlord's yard. How can we go tell him to turn it down? :-/  I know that what constitutes "good" music is subjective, but this stuff just goes on and on and on with the same beat, as if the needle got stuck. Poor [profile] mana_trini is reading on the balcony with my earplugs because the music is as loud outside as in.

Right now, [personal profile] frigg's stories of life in Switzerland where noise "pollution" is strictly (sometimes seemingly too strictly) controlled, especially in residential areas, make me dream of a land with snowy peaks and holey cheese.

Soon, very soon, I'm going to play a selection of music (Metallica's version of "Whiskey in the Jar," anyone?) at full blast for a couple of hours and see how they like it. I don't think Comorens can grasp how annoying blaring music is until it is something that they have no "ear" for. It really is a cultural thing because they even put speakers outside of stores and bust the drums trying to lure in clients.

Oooh, what's that I hear? Silence! Oh please, please, please don't let them turn it back on!

Switzerland: A land of snowy peaks, holey cheese, expensive watches and improbably modified knives.

And sweeties that hurt you (Thank you, Billy Connolly!)

For your aural assault on your neighbours, I'd suggest some Marilyn Manson, too. Especially some of the early stuff.

Oooh, yes. Right you are. *Slots "Beautiful People" in behind "Whiskey in the Jar."* Hmmm, Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams" remake ought to be in there somewhere, too...

I feel for you, darlin', I really do. It's kind of like living surrounded by college party houses. :-)

Yeah, that's the correlation I was making in my mind. My variety of "college kids" also start up their power tools at 7am on a Saturday morning and cut metal. :-

Ooph. Thank God we've got laws against that sort of thing. Doesn't mean somebody doesn't try it now and again, but the neighbors have no problem with ratting each other out. :-/

And the party kids are usually too busy sleeping it off 7 a.m. Saturday.

The worst here, I think, was 6am on a Sunday. Made me livid, it did. But the law enforcement would just laugh at you if you called them for a such thing.

Smart party kids. Good to know that paid education is um...paying off. ;)

I missed this post during all the "guesting"! You should come live here, Switzerland was noisy compared to this. :p
