I went to see the doctor yesty, and he was...*gasp*...actually very nice and, even more important, competent! He listened to me, he examined me, and he firmly stated that he did not want to try to fix my reoccurring problems by doing the equivalent of patch-up doctoring. I had to go back this morning for some blood work and won't have the actual results back for two weeks. However, he said that he thinks it is an allergy that is "slowly eating me up." That sounds deliciously melodramatic and morbid, does it not? :P

The allergy is wearing down my immune system, tiring me, and generally making me into a sickness-magnet. Not fun, but I'm thinking it should be treatable. For the mo, I'm taking iron and potassium supplements, as well as folic acid, to boost my system and help with the fatigue.

How lucky you are to have found such a wonderful doctor.

I hope you're feeling completely better in no time!

Sounds like my husband. The allergy thing, that is. He's allergic to life, his immune system is on permanent vacation and he has no thyroid. (Okay, so the thyroid was removed with his consent, but it was because his immune system was attacking it.) He has a whole pill-taking, nose-spraying ritual each morning.

I hope you fare better and wish you much health!

I dearly hope so, too. I was resigned to feeling crappy for the rest of our stay here. What a blessing if I'll actually be able to enjoy the remaining 9-21 months. :D

Oh no! I hope my problem doesn't lead to such a ritual. I'll do it if I need to, of course, but I'd rather not, as I'm sure you and your hubby can understand. :P

Thanks for the well wishes. :)

Hmmm... wonder what sort of allergy? Hope you can pinpoint and eliminate the source of the problem.

Yeah, he said: maybe volcanic dust, maybe the mold in coconut trees, maybe jasmine or ylang-ylang...lots of things around here to be allergic to. :(

...I need a doctor like that...I'm glad you found one, and I hope this is the first step to a lasting recovery!

Yeah, it's not easy finding a competent doctor these days; I'm not trying to knock the field by saying that, but it seems that they just don't take their time with a patient.

Thanks for the well wishes; I'm wishing the same. :D

So am I. I was pretty much resigned to thinking it was just the climate and I was not ever going to be someone who could adapt to it. :-/

An actual diagnosis would be wonderful and would help in the recovery muchly! I'm hoping he's onto something and can come back with an answer soon! Not knowing what is making you feel sooo bad is horrible.

*hugs*

Yeah, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. I was happy to get the blood work done, but now, don't you know, I'm (or that pessimistic slice of my brain) is trying to convince me that the tests will reveal nothing. :P
