When I have searched for B&Bs before, I generally find a local B&B guild or some such and look off of that. I also just google my heart out. If I knew I wanted to stay in a B&B, I probably wouldn't use an online booking page like expedia, because I don't expect them to have little nice places - just big hotels. That said, I use a lot of search engines - expedia, travelocity, priceline, kayak come to mind. France is so small anyway, why be specific to just the south? (said the egotistic Alaska...*cough* LOL)
