Trying to explain

 A combination of busyness and general blah has kept me from posting of late.  The busyness I can explain; the blah, I cannot. I have many things to share and the lot of you have posted a surpassing number for me to comment on. (Even though I haven't been posting, I have been faithfully keeping up with my flist.) But I just don't feel like reaching out. It's almost like I think I'm going to get burned. Silly, I know.

I don't think I'm grieving for Mayotte or the life there. I'm not generally that kind of person, and truth be told, I haven't much thought about Mayotte since being back. I'm thrilled to be here in continental France and moving toward the next chapter in our lives.

But there is this wait before the world trip, and there are a plethora of things to organize, do, and buy for it, and there is a family wedding to prepare and prepare for, and there is the fact that we are squatting at my mil's house. It's hard not having a space of one's own, for me anyhow. Maybe that is what is wrong with me. I never have any alone time here. My attention is constantly, constantly being solicited. I'm on overdrive, often emotionally, and that is the most wearing on me. 

I guess been doing what I can to cut back, as it were. I've been shutting down but not meaning to shut out.

So, this is just a "hello" and a "how are you?" and a "I'm thinking of you."

I can understand why you'd feel that way. I generally don't feel like dealing with anyone if I don't get some me-time, and LJ updates would be among teh first things to go.

I do hope you're enjoying the time, though, if for no other reason than the wonderful feeling you'll have when traveling and realizing no one is along with you to pester you. ;-)

All those sound like very good reasons, but you could be having a kind of post-partum blues, too. I know any time I have a big push and then a let up, the ol' hobbily wobbilies seem to get me.

Waiting times are always hard. So is not having your own space. I'd be a wreck if I were in your shoes.

When do you leave for the Big Trip? And when are the dates of the Vermont leg of the journey? Got to make sure I clear any calendar conflicts and start planning some fun fall things to do around here. You wanna go apple picking? :D

*nods* I really don't understand people who have to have someone around all the time. I like company, but not all.the.time. That makes it sound like I don't want Julien around either *lol* but I'm used to him being gone, too, because of his work.

Limbo is not a comfortable place.

We leave on Sept 22. We'll leave NYC on the 29th, hopefully early, so that we'll be with you guys sometime late afternoon. I've still got to look into travel arrangements for that leg. What is the nearest train stop to your home?

We will leave for Boston (where we'll fly to Minneapolis) on the morning of Oct 2. We've looked into the Dartmouth coach, and it seems reasonable. Is it what you would recommend?

We'd love to go apple picking. :D

I'd say White River Junction is the best place to arrive via train. If it's not too late, I could take you on a walking tour of Dartmouth College. It has lots of nice old buildings. :)

And yes, I would recommend you catch the Dartmouth Minicoach to Logan airport in Boston.
