Thankfully, after taking the batteries out, shaking the remote vigorously, prying it open as far as I could and wedging a knife blade in it to hold it open allowed the moisture to escape. It took two days to dry out, but it is working again tonight. Hooray. Did not want to have to pay for that when we move out...
