Snippet Sunday
27 Jan 2013 09:20 pmThank you,
mindseas, for reminding me, with your entry, that today is Sunday. Tis so strange. We have been in Egypt for three months now, and I am still not acclimated to the Egyptian week, in which the weekend consists of Friday and Saturday. Every Sunday is a "Monday" for me. Adding to the confusion, church services are held on Friday. Talk about throwing me for a loop. Without J working a M-F workweek--or even an Sun-Thurs week--it is hard to keep the days straight.
Without further ado, my snippet for this Sunday: the opening to WW, bk 1, which is undergoing serious rewriting.

Srila awoke whimpering. Since becoming an iasree, she began every day in agony, so the pain was not what made her heart accelerate in alarm. No, something else held her motionless in bed as she vainly tried to quiet her breathing: Silence.
A jungle was never quiet. Unless it feared.
