I've seen several documentaries on the road, including details of the bike tours. A U.S. TV series documented several U.S. and Canadian truck drivers who volunteered to drive the road multiple times. Did you meet the man who stands on the corners with a flag to warn of oncoming traffic? He volunteered, I believe, after losing a family member.
