I think the contrast has something to do with it, as does the amount of things that happens in the aftermath, so to speak, and one's dominating feelings towards that period of time.
I believe the other iconic image is relating to Revelations 4:8 and the four creatures covered in eyes. I really like the flat, naive style used in the Coptic iconoclastic art and regret that I didn't help out in painting icons while there. Visitors are encouraged to participate in the life of the monastery , to share any knowledge and ideas, or just to use the monastery as a retreat.
Homesteading = yeah, I've learned some fascinating stuff, and I really enjoy it. I am looking forward to incorporating a dairy animal, a cow being my ruminant of choice, but while having one will mean lots of wonderful things for the farm, it will also mean lots of work and commitment.
The kids are happy, but they do miss their friends. They play wonderfully together, though.
