I think that because they didn't recognize the real danger that O was running, the helicopter was exciting. What worried them the most, I think, especially Ti'Loup, was seeing the ambulance since just over a month before one had whisked me from them to the emergency room. Ti'Loup hadn't been able to go with me in the other one, so he asked to see the inside, etc. and I think that helped him deal with that previous situation.
I went back last week and helped again with the honey (this time we got some from hives placed amongst wild raspberry canes), and I am happy to say no one was stung. O even donned his beekeeping suit and helped out with handling the bees.
