wayfaringwordhack*sigh* I figured out today that my opening scene for Witherwilds does not show my protag acting. Or rather, she acts in a very small way instead of fighting for something she wants. This is a real problem of mine when it comes to characters. My MCs are all too often reactive. I know that reactive is sometimes good and sometimes necessary. But in this scene, I could have done so much better by making her more of a participant.
Why did I finally grasp this after I was 6k into it?

I went ahead a wrote on the end of the scene tonight, but because I'm already 1k ahead of my goal for the week, I may take tomorrow off and go over my scene list again, making sure I don't find myself in the same mess in the near future.
