wayfaringwordhack: (chameleon)

Ha! Now that I know to look for the chameleon in the avocado tree, I found him again this morning, and camera in hand, I set out--or rather sat in the window--to get a photo worthy of a glimpse. Alas, it shall not be a high-quality pic because he was at the top of the tree, and my window is on the ground floor; we don't have any on that side of the house on the top floor. So here he is, zoomed to the max. (We need better lenses. :-/ )

Conversation with [profile] mana_trini following the first sighting:

Me: I saw a chameleon in the garden today! ::bounces:: But I didn't get to take a picture because there weren't any batteries in the camera.
He: But they're on the desk, right by the camera.
Boring discussion ensues about batteries, in which the wubs is declared to be in the right.
Me: I sat in the garden for half an hour trying to catch another glimpse of it. No luck, but I did see it's droppings, so I--
He: Oh, do they change color, too?

:P

Thanks!

I get a kick out of the watching them pretend they are leaves. :P

Yep, they're fascinating. I used to love to play with horny(ed) toads when I was little; I wish chameleons and geckos were so easy to catch and play with.

Maybe with a butterfly net?

Yeah, but I don't want to scare them to death. I'd only play with them if I thought they liked it. Like horny toads when you flip them onto their backs and pet their pet their bellies. :)

What are you going to call him/her? Are you going to put a tartan scarf on the branch to set it a challenge? :D

I will love him and pet him and call him...George. Er, OK. That's not very original. I'll have to come up with something. As for the scarf, I'd have to find a way to climb up there first!:P

Bwahahaha! I love that cartoon!

But it does remind me of George, my never-to-be. I am absolutely besotted with him in spite of the fact that he is miles away and he is not going to be a part of my life....

I was going to link, but since Firefox updated the RichText editors won't work....

Poor ol' George. :( I hope someone understanding and loving gives him a home.

I've made no secret of the fact that I'm besotted and would gladly go and get him.

Beloved is saving me from myself. And probably saving George from me. I think he needs a more experienced owner really, but he's just my type...

So it's a case of Beloved knows best? :)

Then why isn't George chez toi!?

Because even when beloved is right, he's wrong - if he's not agreeing with me :D

That is so cool! Of course, I like in Alaska, so I think seeing a raccoon is cool too LOL But really - that's NIFTY!!

Well, I think raccoons are nifty, too. Actually in our day and age, I think any wildlife sighting is pretty awesome.
