It's been awhile since I've given you a glimpse of Mayotte. Today, we'll do birds.  Julien took these two pics  during our anniversary bivouac on Bandrelé Island.  We enjoyed lying on our backs,  watching them dart around as they feasted on insects in the umbrella tree above us: flies, spiders, caterpillars...




A subspecies of Madagascar White Eye, endemic to Mayotte




Madagascar Paradise-Flycatcher 
(too bad you can't see how very blue the skin around her eyes is, and her legs are almost as bright.)
