It has been raining for the past few days. I feel it is chilly for June, and I don't think it is just me coming back from life on a sub-tropical isle. So, to spotlight what I feel June *ought* to be like, a few photos from before the drizzle set in.

A damselfly down by the stream:

My, what blueberry eyes you have!

Wild irises. They're so elegant.
I much prefer them to the domesticated varieties:

What in your life is calling you,
When all the noise is silenced,
  The meetings adjourned...
  The lists laid aside,
  And the Wild Iris blooms
  By itself
  In the dark forest...
What still pulls on your soul?

   ~~Mevlana Rumi (1207 - 1273)

Love that "blueberry-eyed" damselfly! It seems to be peering right back at you.

That Rumi poem is exquisite! Thank you for sharing that.

Also, it is gloomy here, too, but then it's always gloomy in June in SoCal. At the beach, anyway.

It is a great poem, more so, I think, because it has proven itself timeless. 800 years ago people were already harried and occupied with business and things.
