Still on track to finish, though, provided a clearer plan for this chapter occurs to me tomorrow...

hehe. Sounds silly put like that, but yeah. I was actually happy with that word count because writing this chapter is not easy. Not difficult because of subject matter but because I don't quite know how to show the social evolution AND add conflict in there. There's gotta be a way. It just isn't coming to me yet.
