getting home and discovering you did your groceries in pants that had a 10-inch rip right down the butt cheek. No need for specificity; one butt cheek is much like the other. And even though everyone in the store saw your (my) white undies, no one told you (me).

Um, at least I had underwear on???

In other bad news, I have bought no pregnancy clothes to date and those split pants---now lining the trash bin--were about the only thing I can still fit into. :-<

Maybe they thought it was a new fashion? Kind of like the so-low-you-can-see-the-underwear-band thing? :P

Well it's high time to go shopping then!!!

That's moi: Fashionista!

I do need to shop, but I hates it, I does. Hates it!

Oddly, I stopped hating shopping when I got pregnant. I guess I was just so happy to find clothes that were pretty and fit me and were modest...

You can do it online, which saves interaction with salespeople and needing to go to stores (but runs the risk of getting stuff that doesn't fit quite right). I've had a lot of luck with Old Navy and I like Motherhood Maternity's stuff if not their service--both very decently priced. Liz Lange has a few nice things too. I don't know your style and you don't have my modesty issues, so you may even be luckier than I am.

I've thought about the online option, but the fitting issue is likely to be a problem with me.

I really need to try things on. :-/

Also, be aware (which you of course may already be) that the clothes need not be specifically maternity wear; most larger sized shirts will work, and are much cheaper. And a wider selection, in most places here!

Yeah, the problem in France is that there are few Big Person options any way you look at it. :-/

That's what I was afraid of. You people with your more healthy lifestyles and waistlines, hmph. *g*

Er, not moi...them. One thing I do not look is French. :P

*lol*
It seems like split pants season. ;)
And how does one tell a stranger that you can see their underwear? :P

I would pull them aside and tell them!

Embarrassing, yes, but much better to do it and get it over with!

I've done it before with people who have had toilet paper hanging out of their pants. :P

Well, the toilet paper you can do something about...the rip not so much. :p

You can go home and change! Or get a sweater from the clothing department and tie it around your waist! I could have repositioned my bandolier style purse to hide it, too!

Hmmm...did you consider they might have liked the sight of your butt? ;)

No. That, my dear, is unthinkable.

On balance, I think It would have been worse if they'd told you.

Hehe. Maybe, maybe...

I once had my skirt hiked up in my underwear, somehow. Fortunately some stranger was brave enough to tell me.

Oh well--maybe most people didn't notice, being in worlds of their own!

And if you're talking about pregnancy clothes, congratulations!

See, that is a stranger I can admire!

Oh well--maybe most people didn't notice, being in worlds of their own!

That's what I'm hoping. There were an awful lot of little old ladies doing their weekly grocery shopping. Surely they were more concentrated on not forgetting the coffee and biscuits than my derriere. :P

And if you're talking about pregnancy clothes, congratulations!

Thanks, only 14 weeks to go, give or take!

Uhm... I hate to be the one to tell you this, but, given that they tore, I don't think you fit into those pants either.

bwahaha! That is certainly worth pointing out. However, I will make, in defense of my wide butt, the following observation: The pants were very worn, and I was planning on throwing them away even before I realized I was pregnant because I could no longer wear them without a belt. Even as I ran through the store on that fateful flash-the-world-day, I had to keep a hand on the waistband to prevent the pants from sliding off. :P
