Carcassonne

Julien's grandmother lives in Carcassonne, and as always we went to visit her during our trip south. This time, though, Julien and I took the time to vist the City, the original fortified town, one of, if not the, largest fortified medieval towns still in existence in France (Europe?...too tired to look it up). Soëlie must get to know the birthplace of her father, non?

The Cité has become very touristy--even more so than it was 10 years ago when I first visited--but it is still lovely and definitely, definitely worth a visit.

I love the panoramic view going into your tags. The shots of the stained glass convey something of the awesome presence this architecture must command when one is there within its realm. And the gargoyle holding its ear is delightful! Have holy words scalded it?
