This week I read the 60K words I have on WW book 2 and then started a new opening scene to that book.

I just wrote this, so it is rough and raw and seriously lacking in setting and such. Whatever. Time to fill in and polish later. :D

“You smuggled the trader out,” Lelo hissed to Sola, holding the sapient by the arm. “If you got him out, you can get my mother out, too.”

Sola did not fight Lelo’s grip, even though it must have made her uncomfortable. In a toneless voice, she answered, “Then I was going toward my creator, going home. No one will believe I’m returning to Settlement Town now.”

“They will if they think my mother sent you. Tell them she wants to you see the Songwall yourself, or…or she wants you to carry a personal message to Ario.”

“What message would she have me carry to the dead?”

Hmmm. Well, I was thinking that maybe I could start cleaning up chapters (finishing those that peter out because I was waiting to figure out how to handle something), and then I can start sharing with you, chapter by chapter.

I don't think I want to join the OWW again, but I think having a cheerleader giving me feedback could be good. :)

:D It will take me a little while to get the whole MS finished, but if you want to read some of the stuff that I have already, see my comment above to May.

Cool! What is a sapient? (I know what the word means; what I mean is, what kind of a creature is a sapient, in the story?)

This is your second in the series, right? Which means the first is done? (Can I catch up by reading the first?)

A sapient is a type of "clone,"* one that is created to think just like her (only women can make them) creator.** Sapients are able to communicate telepathically with their creators so are great facilitators of making their creators' will known across distance. There are also sympaths, clones who "feel" what their creators feel so that they, the sympaths, can anticipate and see to their creators' needs.

I would greatly love to share Witherwilds I with you, but... *wails* it is in need of so much fixing. I have so many things lined up to add, tweak, and smooth that it would seem like I'm willingly torturing you by passing it along for you to read. :(

If you don't mind knowingly reading a broken thing, I'll share. Or, if you would prefer, you can be my honored reader for draft 2. Let me know what you think.

*"clone" just being the handiest, least complicated descriptor, but this is secondary-world fantasy with not a smidge of science or "futuresque setting" in sight. :P

**Iasrees, or women who have the ability to manipulate minerals through the power of song, are the ones who have the power to create a sympath and sapient. :)

Wow, what fascinating creatures!

I understand--I think I understand, that is--your quandary w/regard to Witherwilds. I would love to read it because I want to be *in the know* with regard to all these characters. But I also want you not to share until you feel ready. I'm someone new--it's hard to share something in progress w/someone new.

... I feel the same way about the finished Pen Pal draft... I partially want to share it, but the other part of me wants to wait until after I make revisions.

Either way is fine. Shall we let fate decide and flip a coin?
