Snippet Sunday
21 Jul 2013 09:34 pmI haven't been doing anything creative these past couple of weeks, aside from dabbling with a watercolor landscape (Nile-scape). I'm getting frustrated with my inability to produce desired results with watercolors, though. So today, I laid the foundation for an oil painting. And I actually had fun. It doesn't look like much yet, but I'll show a picture so that you'll have a before and after reference and to prove that, yes, I'm finally doing something again.

Another thing that is frustrating me is my writing. I've been stuck at the same spot for, literally, years now. Since I've picked it up again, I've tried a different lead in to the situation, but I'm still not excited about it. Frustrating doesn't really cover it, actually. I thought the brain would have kicked me something to play with by now, but no. :-< I don't know whether I should set it aside again and pick up my other novel or if I should give it more time. Perhaps I'll try a new brainstorming activity to unlock the situation tomorrow...
What creative endeavors have you been up to?

Date: 21 Jul 2013 08:30 pm (UTC)For the pyramids, I'm working from a photo my husband took during our visit back in December. I'm leaning more toward Impressionism rather than realism (otherwise the sky would be pretty flat blue--except for the layer of dust and pollution I mentioned in your post :P), and it is fun to just play with the colors. I've always had a bent toward realism, but I'd like to let go of (or be able to control) the rigidity of exactly reproducing something.

Date: 21 Jul 2013 09:25 pm (UTC)My guests are going to Legoland tomorrow, so I should be available for brainstorming in the afternoon if you'd like something to bounce those ideas off on.

Date: 22 Jul 2013 12:56 pm (UTC)Re: creative efforts. I've been doing some writing (additional ideas for the Tara draft keep cropping up, distracting me from Daisy). I've had a bunch of musical snippets come to me from dreams. But I'm really stalled with my app programming. I can't seem to design an app with complex graphics that can avoid out of memory or lag problems. I looked at one again yesterday and put it aside. I don't suppose writing projects ever throw up such concrete obstacles, or do they?
