I'm not a nudist; I'm a dinosaur!*
7 Nov 2013 09:09 pmThis post may have TMI so I'm putting it under a cut. Not to worry, there is nothing graphic or gross in it.
Today, we went to health club. Sprout stayed alone in the playroom, and I do mean alone.* The sitter had not arrived yet but would be there shortly the staff assured us. So, J and I set off to do our workout. Afterwards, I peeked in on her with the intention of leaving her, if she seemed fine, and heading off to take my shower by myself or, alternatively, offering to let her come to the changing room with me.
Well, when I looked in, she was fine (and still alone). And completely naked. Sitting on a bean bag with her snack while she watched cartoons. Her clothes were strewn across the floor, much like she does here at the house. I, of course, am not shocked to see my kid naked, but I wasn't sure others would feel the same (the playroom has a glass wall that fronts a corridor leading between the dressing rooms and the reception area). Laughing, I went in and asked Sprout why she had gotten undressed.
"Because I wanted to sleep in that car-shaped bed," she tells me.
"Yes, but we don't have to be naked to sleep in the bed."
However, at home, J and I both prefer to sleep without pajamas, and even though we often put her into them when she goes to bed, she usually undresses herself before falling asleep. (I used to do the same, in my sleep, and for the longest time thought my older sister was undressing me as a prank...until she woke me up one night while I was in the midst of stripping, nightgown pulled up over my head.)
Most of the time, Sprout runs around naked at home. Now the days are getting cooler and I always think I'll be able to keep her clothes on her. Not yet.
But don't worry; she's not a nudist. She's just a dinosaur. :P

* Said by Sprout one day a couple of months ago while I was trying to get her dressed, poolside, at our health club.
** While it is comforting to know an adult is watching her, the sitters employed by our club are pretty much worthless. They sit in the corner, playing on their phones, so it was no big deal that S had the room to herself and could do as she liked.

Date: 8 Nov 2013 09:29 am (UTC)We have a running joke with a local friend of ours that whenever she comes by, at least one person in our household has no pants on. Which is no surprise, because the statistical likelihood of dropping by while EVERYONE is wearing pants is very close to zero. :P
