I did two things this week.

First, I played around with watercolors, using lots of different techniques.

Second, I realized the mistake in my previous thinking. I posted last week that I wanted to "retro-fit a background" onto my sketch. It occurred to me that retro-fitting is a recipe for disaster. I must not think of how to back up, if you will; I must think of a way to go forward if I want to make an organic whole.

So, this is the sketch as is:

Hopefully next week, I'll have mustered the courage to put brush or glue or whatever to it.

That's beautiful. I really love the details in the eye and the feathers.

Thank you. It was (is) very relaxing to work on.

It's so delicate and with such detail! I love it.

:D That detail was quite fun to put in. Just letting it flow and not worrying about how it looked. It was freeing and turned out very delicate-looking, as you said.

First, this is lovely just as it is. :-) Second, have you considered having a copy made of it to give you one to practice on until you're sure what you want to do with the original? That's what I do with my landscape designs - I experiment on a copy until I'm happy and then go forward.

And really, you know, this is lovely!

Hehe. Yes, I actually took a photo with the idea in mind to make a printout to experiment on. :D I could do it digitally, too, but that wouldn't help much with the real drawing.

And thanks. :)
