Is LJ freaking out or is it me?

I tried to comment on a post and got a message that I have been banned from doing so.  This is surprising considering that I'm a friend of this person and have no idea why I would have been banned (without being unfriended).

Has anyone else gotten similar messages when trying to comment?

FWIW, if you have received such a message from me, there is something strange going on because I have not banned anyone...

I haven't received messages like that. For me, the only change this week was the new LJ facelift, but it allowed me to opt out of that.

I had this happen once--I think the person had hit "ban" by mistake. I got in touch and they undid it. I'm sure that's what it is--I don't think it's the wonkiness of LJ (though it **might** be) or because your friend has suddenly gotten angry.

Not had the ban thing, but this morning I tried to sign into LJ from my phone and got told first that my username was incorrect, and then that my password was, so it's not impossible something odd was going on.

As much as I have figured out, sometimes it is a baffling bug (there is one community I am a member of, but have been unable to post - there is ALWAYS some glitch. And yet other people do post ... I cannot understand what is wrong. The moderator answers my questions, but the one time she assured me she had helped my post along ... she then had to confess that she has no idea what happened, but she cannot find my post any more)

But sometimes the issue has been either a private or deleted entry - for some reason I have seen and read the entry, but when I try to comment, I cannot (I am not entirely sure what the error message did say when that happened)
