I said I spoke too soon, and I did. The trip wasn't completely hassle-free but close enough, the delay and debarking aside. They were able to repair the plane within an hour (the time it took to re-route the three people in line ahead of us), so we stayed on the original plane. We were being paged for boarding just as we exited the plane at Dulles. We (and our baggage) made it all right.  So, now we are back, safe and sound and unpacked. We ate an earky supper and are going to make an early night of it.
