Meet Luna

A sucker may be born every minute, but some of us get to practice our suckerhood every other minute. Or something like that.

Once again, our hearts have softened and we have committed rescue.

Meet Luna:

She must be 4-6 weeks old, a Persian* or Persian mix. She was on the road outside our home, covered, literally, in fleas.** In fact, we thought she was scabby, but no, it was just the mass of fleas around her eyes, in the crevices around her nose and mouth.  All these photos are post-bath, tedious tweezing, and brushing because she is too young and weak to use any flea products on.  She was missing all the fur before, not because of our clean-up, rest assured.

Sprout loves her, scruffiness and all, and she is the one who named Luna--on the spot--because, "I just like the name." J is already calling her Luna Lunatic, through no fault or antics of the kitten's, but it seems like a foretelling. :P

Be at peace, wee one. You are safe here.

She's confined to the back balcony for now, awaiting a vet visit tomorrow. We'll let her meet N'djema after getting a clean bill of health.  That promises to be exciting. :-/

_____________

* No offense intended to any lovers of this breed, but I'm not really a fan. Just to make clear that we didn't relent and save her because she looks like something other than a street cat. I can't stand suffering, though, not when I can do something about it, no matter who or what it is happening to.

**Actually, she was under a car and came waddling out to us when she heard us talking, as if sensing soft-hearted marks saviors nearby.

Awwwwwwwww!

You're wonderful. So, so glad you saved this little kitty. (I would **want** to save her, but I'd be put off by the fleas--afraid of getting the house infested. Seeing that you did it *anyway* melts my heart. You're good folks.)

We did see some fleas in the bathroom and on the balcony this morning. I even caught one in a "flea trap" (dish of water under a night light), but we've pre-treated N'djema and are trying to stay vigilant.

That last picture is a heartbreaker. I hope she gets a clean bill of health.

Yeah, like N'djema, she won me over by being so trusting; never for a moment does she believe you want anything but her well-being.

She looks pretty "good," hence why I let Sprout handle her, and I hope the vet's diagnosis doesn't give us any nasty surprises.

She is very sweet and I hope she can come out of seclusion quickly. We have to get her used to N'Djema before we leave for the summer. :-/

Aw. :-( Poor small thing needing rescue, and good on you for managing that rescue. Our older cat is a Luna(tic), though the tiny kitten who self-rescued from our woodshed last spring and is beginning her own adventures in the great outdoors this spring surely deserves the epitaph more than the older cat! May the vet visit bring no worse news than that the kitten needs to be wormed and vaccinated.

The diagnosis seems good! And she is cuter than ever now that some of the Vaseline we used to trap the fleas has worn off her fur.

the tiny kitten who self-rescued

Cats are good at that, aren't they?

I hope so, too. She is sweet...as all kittens are, I guess.

lol... I leave for a few days and come back to you getting a new cat.

Cats are generally not welcoming to strange cats. I'm sure N'Djema will come round. We've always had hissy fits of temper when introducing a new family member, except for when we got Murphy who was instantly accepted.

That would have been so hard to not do. Karma points for you. If you're ever stuck outside and miserable with fleas, someone is bound to help you.

:)
