In which I share something and ask for sharing, too

I recently read a book* in which a character looks at the position of the moon in the night sky and determines the time to be around midnight.  Dear friends, having seen the moon at 10:30 a.m. today,at what would be an equivalent "4 o'clock in the afternoon" position were it the sun, I can firmly assure you that it is a much more complicated way of telling time than merely "the moon is at its apex, it is midnight."   There *are* ways of calculating the time using the moon, but they are that: Calculations.  They need more inputs than what book characters are using.

And now your turn, should you wish to share :  Do you have any Youtube (authortube) channels that you watch for craft chat that do NOT involve showing segments of the author making coffee or walking and pet and/or going about errands?  I like listening to shop talk while puttering about the house in hopes that I will be motivated to work on my books.  Also, if the YouTuber thinks they need to swear constantly to make their points, I am not interested.

I know what you mean about the moon thing! The moon rises at different times of night depending on what point in its fullness it is. You'll never have a full moon rise at midnight, for instance: full moons always rise around sunset. Whereas the new moon rises around sunrise. So yeah: trying to judge the time of night by where the moon is in the sky also involves knowing those facts about the moon!

Alas, I can't help you on the Youtube front. The healing angel did just show me a funny tiktok video about the sorrows of being at the time of year when the butter doesn't get soft, even if you leave it out on the counter for hours... but that is (a) not a Youtube video and (b) does not fit the bill in terms of writing craft. (It was a good laugh, though.)

Can you believe in Lebanon they are still having days in the mid 20s Celsius (High 70s F)? My butter will be in a puddle. :P

I wish things would calm down in Lebanon :( But at least the environment is more pleasant than Egypt (yes?)

How old is your littlest now?

Friends we made in Egypt have now been living in Lebanon for the past 3 yrs and they say things are overall easier and better in Lebanon. The current crisis and the ensuing electricity and fuel shortages/problems have made things harder, though. From a climate perspective, from checking the weather, Beirut seems to be a fairly consistent 10°C cooler than Cairo. With the mountains at our backs instead of desert, we can go to running rivers and canyons with greenery and waterfalls instead of wadis. :)

Our youngest is now 5.5 yrs old, and he is raring to go. :D

Yeah, with the move, I have kind of given up on listening to anything buy mindless audiobooks these days. We are coming down to the wire.
