(2 April 2024)
This has been such a busy season for my family. I feel like we are in GO mode all the time.  I have been creating so much, but because it is more illustrative, it just doesn't feel very apropos to this community.  However, I will keep posting our art prompt adventure.  I do hope to paint soon, too, but I am not putting any pressure on myself.

Our prompts this time around were: Spring and Agamographs!  I only recently learned what agamographs were and therefore had no experience making them.  Enter YouTube.  Since we had "spring" as our other prompt, none of us went with the more graphic style that seems to work well with this type of art.  I learned quite a few do's and don'ts in this process, such as: Small details are pointless because they will be lost "in transition."

It would have been better to do videos of our artworks, but I don't have that kind of patience or bandwidth. Hope the photos will at least give an inkling of the final products. 😄

First is a photo of the completed artworks before cutting them up, along with the first construction steps (sadly, I forget to photograph everyone else's before they cut and pasted them. As I said, this was a learning process):

I did mine in acrylic with some colored pencil for details.

Daughter's (watercolor):

With hers, we learned the folly of using too-thin paper for the base layer.😣

Middle child's (marker):

Youngest child's (marker, soft pastel, colored pencil):

Have you ever tried an agamograph?

Damn! I accidently deleted your comment on my book review. I'm so embarrassed. 😊

In other news, you're being wonderfully creative! 😘

Alas, I know how that goes. I often think when that happens our subconscious is resisting a breakthrough. 🙅‍♀️

In comment news, I recreated your comment through my email notifications. I am a completist (or anal perhaps). 😂

Like I said before, I often find this deep sense of confusion, self doubt (and self abuse) is a prelude to an artistic breakthrough. I wish it wasn't so but we artists often seem to need a passage through the underworld before we can rise into new territory. You're processing, my friend. Keep going.

I love the combo of pictures for youngest child's! The bees and the flowers--how great!

For me, I know you're a great teacher of art because your kids fill the entire page with color. .... Maybe I should rephrase that as just, "I love me a page that's filled with color, and your kids do that, and so I approve of your teaching," LOL.

Agmographs are fun--I never knew the word for them, but I've seen them, of course--I've even seen ads that use that format (in an airport, if I recall correctly). I don't think I've ever made one myself, though.

I've never tried an agamograph, but now I want to. Do you think it's possible to do it directly on a folded paper?

I was being lazy, but after studying it, it would probably not be faster or better. :p
