Happy Holidays to one and all

Hurricane Bondo died down and gave us only rain and a bit of wind. Christmas day, the sky was too overcast for us to risk going to a beach for a picnic, so we went to B & N's house (J's cousin and girlfriend) because a) they have a covered terrace with a nice view of the lagoon and b) they are in France and Spain, respectively, for the holidays.
We had a nice bbq: grilled prawn and lobster tails on a bed of arugula and baby spinach, coal-baked eggplants stuffed with feta, and grilled mangoes and pineapple basted with ginger butter. (I didn't particularly care for the mango. It wasn't bad, but it made me think of pumpkin, and I didn't mean to be eating pumpkin at that particular moment.)
J hurt his back at work a few days ago, so he wasn't up to much, but we went to the beach later on, and I swam while he relaxed on the sand.
VoilĂ , our first Christmas in the tropics. Call me nuts, but I would have preferred the cold.

It is odd about the weather and Christmas. Think how interesting it would be if Christmas were attached to the season, so that it happens at the snowiest, coldest time of year rather than at a particular date. If you flew around, you could have lots of celebrations in one year.
