How many of you consistently--please note the word and take it into consideration for your  answers--journal about something that is in no way* tied to yourself?

*"In no way" meaning that the entry, even if it is a link to a news article, does not address you, your ideas, your opinions or feelings in any way.

Given the restrictions you put in there, probably never.

Which isn't really a surprise. My journal is about my life, my writing, the struggle to make it as a writer and an occasional side trip into political and social issues that mean something to me. I think its that way for everyone on my friends list.

Never. I guess the whole idea of journalling is about *self*. anything I write about has some kind of link to me because even if it isn't *about* me it is about something I think about or feel strongly about in some way. I have plenty of non-me time in the real world where I am only thinking about other people (in my work), so when I journal it is all about me or my thoughts or my thoughts or feelings about something else, cos well, isn't that whay diaries are for?

Anything I place in my journal will have some kind of connection to me. Because, you know, it's my journal. ;-)

you mean the entire world doesn't involve me? GRIN Actually, my interests are so diverse I'm not certain that it is entirely possible to find a subject that I don't have some interest in.

Rarely. I mean, it's my journal. Of course it's about me. ;-)

I write the things that I think are worth writing about. Inevitably, those things reflect my ideas, values, sensibilities and priorities. Inevitably too then, I accrue benefit from writing about them.

But if you mean "to what extent do I seek or gain gratification from blogging" then it's a different question. Mine's mainly a work blog. For the most part, it's a record of stuff that's supposed to help in solving writing problems. I don't own the problems or the need to solve them, and often don't own the solutions either. Those things are shared; I just happen to write about them.
