Wedding feast preparations.

The gentleman in shorts is a paid entertainer. He helped make the day's dish--pilau (beef, veggies, spices, and rice)--while singing songs and dancing. At one point, he put on a saluva (the garment tied around the chest or waist) and a kishale (voluminous headscarf) and acted like a boueni (woman).

I really will make an indepth wedding post one of these days.

I know exactly what you mean about photos. I've only started taking pics in the last year and a half, and I didn't snap nearly enough in France before coming to Mayotte. When I think about the winding Loire and fog shrouding the hill upon which Sancerre (our village) perched, when I think of the vineyards changing color in the fall or the silvery green wheatfields dotted with oh-so-scarlet poppies, I regret that very much. I'm trying not to make the same mistake with our stay here.*

*Note to self: Start taking the camera with you more often!
