My other art project isn't ready to share now, so back to donkeys it is.

I try to recycle whenever I can, and seeing the waste disposal problem here in Egypt, I try to find a second usage for almost everything.  We try not to buy heavily packaged things whenever we can avoid it, but sometimes we end up with things like styrofoam platters. I keep them for crafting with the Sprout, for paint palettes and such.

I used two of them to create these donkey stamps, which I tested on two different types of paper. I prefer the texture and effect of the first which was done on cheap paper. Since it doesn't have any tooth, it allowed the stamp to slide around in interesting ways.  However, I did have to apply paint twice on the second image because the first time, I didn't get good coverage (and it resulted in the blur-smudgy lines). Even from the first application of paint, though, I could see that the effect wasn't as nice.

Very bright!

When I first saw them I thought they were hot wax paintings - was actually thinking that you have a crazy amount of different art stuff. :p

LOL

I have a mix of stuff that I've had for years which I complete with whatever I can find on hand, like used waxed paper, cardboard, styrofoam. :P

And I've never heard of hot wax paintings.

It's also called encaustic painting. Very cool colours.

Yeah, the depth of the colors in that petunia painting you showed me is impressive.

I have been under the gun with family obligations and work, so have been away from LJ (and missing it sorely). Your entries, when I've managed to steal away for a few minutes and look at them, have been a real treat.

A bit. Still a frustratingly huge amount of stuff to do, but at least it seems possible to do it now.
