Junebug

One day, in the merry month of May, I was lying on my bed with Sprout, trying to get her to take a nap.  Out of the blue, she said, "I want a sister."  Then she turned and looked at me with a most earnest expression and declared, "I want my parents to make me a sister."

Being the obliging parents that we are, J and I, um, did what we could to make our girl's desire come true.  We know we made something; we just don't know (and don't choose to know) yet whether it will be a sister or a brother. We've been preparing her for eventuality number 2.

So, yes, that is what I created this week and have been creating for the past 14.  Junebug, the obvious code name for a baby conceived in June, will be joining our family end of February/beginning of March.

I adore the shirt!! I wish I'd had one like that for a pregnancy!

That last photo in the trio is adorable of both of you, and I love S in the first one, too <3

I could have started taking photos in it as early as 5wks, but I was just too wiped out to make it before the 11th week. I had ZERO creative energy. But I'm glad I finally got around to it. It will be a great souvenir.

Why am I not surprised! You felt icky at the beginning of Sprout. I started to ask you a few months ago but knew you would tell us in your own good time. so excited for all of you. hugs and kisses

Well, my first trimester ickiness is pretty much over, but boy oh boy, was it worse this time around. One of the reasons I didn't want to leave Egypt early was because I did not want to feel that bad anywhere but in my own home. It would have been unfair of me to come and collapse on my mil for 2 months. :P

Whoooeee! That's wonderful news! Beautiful photos too. I can see in #3 that S. wants to be just like her Mommy.

hehe. I wanted to tell you earlier (to start chatting about homebirth, etc., which might be a lot easier to do in Egypt than in France, but I wanted to get past the first trimester.

When did you start suspecting?

LOL, it's funny, because when I started suspecting, I was wrong! It was when you had that virus, but you had a clear excuse at the time that apparently was not pregnancy... and I was aware that my suspicion was presumptuous, but I also remembered you mentioning that you'd like to have another baby sometime, and since S is right around the "traditional" spacing age...

I have no idea what the medical system is like in Egypt. I'd be interested to hear about it.

I've found a really nice gynecologist who tells me that she will be the one following me throughout the pregnancy AND delivery, which is not common in France unless you pay to go to a fancy clinic. Of course, something could always come up. She also gets plus points for not freaking out when I asked how she felt about homebirth. I have tried to find a doula, but there is not much choice. Since I knew I'd be leaving on vacation at the end of my first trimester (and wanted to get through that before I started making plans), I haven't pursued the few options I've found so far. I'll do that when I get back.

If you like I can ask on the message group for Childbirth International--the online school I took my childbirth educator course through. They have doulas there too. No idea if they have anyone in Cairo but I could ask.

Interesting, so it seems like it's more like the US system.

Hooray! Very happy for you all. What an adventure Sprout is in for. Being a big sister is a BIG deal. :D

Great t-shirt, too. :)

Thank you!

There is going to be just over three years difference between Sprout and Junebug, which I think is a good gap.

Great t-shirt, too. :)

The internet is such a great place for finding crafty ideas. I wish I had made one for Sprout, too.

Congratulations! You both looks so happy and cute!

Seeing your daughter reminds me of one of my mis-steps as a young mother. I was so eager in explaining pregnancy to my 3 years old son that it ended in tears. As my son wanted to be pregnant one day and he did not believe that being a father would be as exiting as actual pregnancy.

Ah, the wanting to be pregnant, too. Yep, Sprout does that. During our first appt with the gyno, she told the dr that she had a baby in her tummy, too. :P

Eeee!

Congrats! :) That is awesome news. I hope you have an easy pregnancy and delivery, too :)

Thank you! I hope it is easy, too. It is already "harder" than my first one, but not hard by any means. :P Just I feel it more already, all those stretching ligaments and that sharp pain brought on by too-sudden movements. Not to mention that I'm already showing more, too. :P

That's wonderful news! Congratulations and good luck for an easy time henceforth!

Great photos. I especially love the first and last. Sprout looks so proud of her accomplishment! And so sure of herself! ♥

Thank you. I'm 15 wks now, but I still have moments where I can't believe it is true.

Sprout is definitely proud. :P
