This and That

So we got our hot water pressure back Saturday, which means we can have HOT or COLD showers with decent pressure now but no normal, warm showers. Such is life in this flat.

While the landlord was here, water started leaking from a crack in the ceiling. Apparently, Noisy New Neighbors above us have cracks in the tiles of their bathroom that let water through.

Landlord says that no one is happy with the job the natour is doing, and they plan to fire him. They will then hire a man who will come with his wife, and SHE will do a good job cleaning. Ugh.

I sat on the sidelines and started my cardigan tonight while my kiddos played football (soccer) at our weekly Family Football Game. I was able to get the gauge with a 6mm hook, so I don't need to borrow back the 6.5mm hook I gave to my friend's daughter. :P

We made our final offer on a flat here in our village that has a garden. The landlady is taking her sweet time in getting back to us, so we visited another flat last night. It was rather meh. I really wish I would have taken a picture of the frieze in the entryway. Here is a photo from a search engine:



But the angle doesn't do it justice. It is probably about 4 feet wide.

And I will end on a Hurrah that is probably premature, but we are currently having only one 2-hour electricity cut during the day right now. :D

The leak from upstairs really adds a certain je ne sais quois. I hope the new natour can see his way to fixing that, too. And I hope the landlady who's being slow to get back to you says yes... or I sort of hope so. Unresponsiveness from the get-go doesn't say much about what the future relationship will be like, so maybe I hope instead you very quickly find an acceptable place with a serviceable landlord.

Yeah, the leak from above is on the owner of the apartment. Thank goodness because if the natour was the one doing it, the problem might amplify beyond the (I think) fairly superficial damage.

As for the other flat, we saw on the real-estate site, that she has posted the flat for $250 higher than what she asked us for it, AND she has added photos from 10 years ago when her daughter lived there. :P

The trees in the yard are ginormous now (notably the pecan tree), and the flat has a lot of aging issues that the photos don't show. I am curious as to what kind of response she will get due to the false expectations she has set up by choosing to show it under a completely different light than the reality.

Perhaps this is her last ditch effort to find someone else. We are not in a hurry, being paid up at this place until 31 Dec., but we can't wait much longer for her to come around. We were already worried about a relationship with this person because of other friends checking out the flat a couple of years ago telling us how she is very particular and doesn't really want children living there. :P

Now I'm really hoping a better place (or at least a serviceable place) comes along, because I foresee lots of tension if this one happens. Although who knows, maybe the story that's about to happen is how your family warms her heart and changes her life ... I just wouldn't want to count on that.

Yes, she is a piece of work, I think, which is why we avoided even checking out the place for a long time. We just really want to stay in this village, and I would really like to have a garden. What to do, what to do. We are praying things go through if that is the way it is meant to be and/or something else more suited to use will come along. The waiting and wondering is so hard, and I don't want us to be pressured into taking something last minute. :(
