In the North vs South rugby matches today, England and France snatched the wins from Australia and New Zealand.  Yeah, I feel on top of the world!

Next week: England vs France.

What do you think, [profile] footlingagain? Les Bleus or Le Quinze de la Rose?

They were such close games - I finished yesterday a nervous wreck! But a happy nervous wreck.

As for Les Bleus or Le Quinze de la Rose, I'm torn. There have been so many changes to our team in the last 4 years, the Cup winning side is almost unrecognisable and they've really struggled to find their form. It was a huge relief to see them come out with real purpose yesterday - and to pull it off. But I agree with your point about the cup going into the hands of those who've never had it before.

Of course, if I hadn't friended you, I might not have such mixed emotions ;-) Oh, that semi-final is going to be an emotional rollercoaster!

I know. There was no stomping going on. The matches were achingly close. (Yes, Fred's pass that allowed us to score the winning try was borderline [pretty balantly] en avant, but the boundary refs cheated us twice on out-of-bounds calls, so...)

I think we're going to have to work on our melée (scrum?) because England totally dominated Australia on that front.

Forgive my vocab. I'm not up on the English terms. :P

You're much better on the English terms than I am on the French ones ;-)

Melee is the scrum, I think (sorry - can't find the accents on this keyboard!). When the ball's put into the middle after the two teams lock together and try to break one another's necks.

The maul is when the players surround another one who's holding the ball and try to walk him to the line.

The ruck is when the player in the maul has dropped the ball - I think *g*

*lol* Between the two of us, we should be able to figure out what is going on.

We'll probably end up with a game that no-one else recognises ;-)

That is highly likely. They'll surely think it is very inspired from other well-known sports.
:-P
